ILSI SEA Micronutrient/Fortification Task Force

Contact: ILSI Southeast Asia Staff ILSI Southeast Asia, in collaboration with FAO held the Fourth Southeast Asia Regional Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) Harmonization Workshop in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Selected nutrition and government representatives from Southeast Asia attended the meeting to formalize a Regional RDA Committee tasked with formulating an immediate Plan of Action for the harmonization of RDAs in the region. The identification and setting of criteria for priority nutrients, coordination of a database for core nutrients, and recommendation of a research and training agenda for appropriate personnel were discussed and agreed upon. The draft agreement and preparation of state-of-the-art papers will be finalized by December 2000.
